The weather will be staying warm soon and if you haven’t already – it’s time to get started with Step 1 of ECH’s 4 Step Lawncare! This month, through March, get rolling with an application of Fertilome Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food. This essential pre-emergent contains Dimension® herbicide that prevents and helps control broadleaf weeds like crabgrass, chickweed, henbit and more. Plus, your lawn will get the necessary nutrients needed to get a jump start on healthy growth for the season.
NOTE: Step 1 is a pre-emergent which will prevent weeds germinating from seed. The earlier you apply Step 1, the more efficient it will be. It will not kill exisinng weeds that have already germinated or sprouted. To kill exisinting weeds in early Spring, we recommend Weed Free Zone which uses 4 active ingredients to provide broadleaf weed control in cooler seasons.
Do not apply Fertilome Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food to lawns that have recently been seeded or that you plan to seed this Spring. Applying Step 1 to newly seeded or soon to be seeded areas will cause the grass seed to not sprout.
It’s also time to apply pre-emergent herbicides on landscape areas. We recommend Hi Yield Weed & Grass Stopper. This product should be used in the mulched areas in your landscape to stop weeds before they germinate from seed.
